Review highlights

Based on 528 reviews

Reviews for MOBY DICK consistently highlight the restaurant's fresh and flavorful seafood offerings, with many patrons praising the quality and variety of dishes such as grilled fish, seafood platters, and shellfish. The atmosphere is noted for being welcoming and slightly removed from the main tourist bustle, offering a more authentic and relaxed dining experience. Service is frequently described as friendly, attentive, and personable, contributing positively to the overall visit. Some feedback points to minor imperfections in certain dishes, such as slight overcooking, but these do not significantly detract from the enjoyment. The restaurant’s cozy setting, while intimate, may feel a bit cramped due to closely spaced tables, a common trait in the area. Overall, MOBY DICK is recognized for its excellent seafood, warm hospitality, and a pleasant ambiance that appeals to both locals and visitors seeking a genuine taste of Dubrovnik’s coastal cuisine.

Extremely fresh and delicious seafood!!! Two of us shared Grilled Calamari and the Grilled Whole Fish with potatoes and green beans. Our server was so lovely, plating it all on a beautiful platter to share. The best Calamari I have ever tasted and the fish flaked perfectly! One of the best meals we had in Croatia. We were even treated to a glass of Pelinkovac after dinner, which was so kind!

Every few years I visit my family in Dubrovnik and they like to take me out to a good restaurant. This time their choice fell onto the Moby Dick - and what a good choice was it! Located off the main stream at the Stradun, in Prijeko Street, it has a fine yet not over-touristy atmosphere and one feels really welcomed by the kind and competent staff. Oysters as an appetiser, daily soup and rib eye steak (well done, as I prefer it) were my choice, as I am not kind on a fish. We sat outside as the weather permitted, but what I saw from the interior was quite attractive for the poorer weather visit too. The men's room spotlessly clean!

Really nice place, we had the seafood special 'Moby Dick' this has a full lobster, 2 basa fillets (or similar) shrimps, squid, black risotto, and a huge pile of mussels. The dish was really good, but could have been better, the lobster was quite small, and there were no claws. It also tasted a little burnt, as did the squid, perhaps from the grill. We didn't feel the need to complain as the meal as a whole was good and gives the option to try plenty of sea food. 1 litre of white table wine was very reasonably priced (for the old town) and really nice. The side salad arrived as a starter, I saved mine to eat with the main as there were no other sides. The service was great.

Had a lovely lunch and dinner at Moby Dick. The dinner was so succulent that we had to return for lunch the day after to try other things on the menu. For starters we had a mix sea food platter with anchovies and octopus salad. Main dish was a mix grill fish platter with Lobster, branzino and muscles. We could not resist also to try the fresh sea bream (dorada) which was fantastically prepared. As for desert, do not look beyond ferrero rocher cake, it is amazing. All this was paired with local wine Posip. If you would like to experience a traditional dalmatian cuisine with freshly caught fish and sea food, Moby dick is the place to go. Head waitor Hrvoje was very helpful and provided a sublime service and experience! A must visit if you are visiting Dubrovnik. Enjoy!!!

Food was amazing! We took oysters, fried octopus and beef medallions with mushrooms sauce. Stuff was very friendly and joking. However the tables were a bit too small and very close to each other (not much privacy you have there), on the other side - same as in all restaurants in this street:)) Recommended!

One would think it's a tourist trap, but due to the competitions, it would make sense for them to bring their A game. As such, the early dinner we had was everything we had hoped for. We wanted grilled whole fish and octopus. They delivered both without breaking my wallet. Both dishes were presented well, washed them down with their house white wine. Can't go wrong here. Benjamin's been great as our server.

This was a little gem. Tucked away and unassuming from the outside it has a nautical vibe inside. Inside also has air conditioning. We shared a truly world class black risotto together with a very good grilled octopus. They have a decent selection of beers and cocktails. The staff are friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Great seafood restaurant in the heart of old town. Grilled calamari was fresh and very well done, tuna fillet was perfectly cooked and a good size, and the gnocchi was a great traditional dish. Highly recommend and well situated in a well shaded area!
